From New York Times best-selling author Julia London comes the second novel in her irresistibly romantic Desperate Debutantes trilogy, in which three suddenly destitute aristocratic young ladies must resort to desperate means to keep up appearances...and find the husbands of their dreams.
Lady Greer Fairchild's only hope of avoiding marriage to the first bidder lies in journeying into the untamed Welsh countryside in search of an inheritance she's not sure even exists -- one reportedly controlled by Rhodrick Glendower, Earl of Radnor, also known as the Prince of Powys. Rumor has it that the prince is rough, ruthless -- even a murderer. But Greer never imagined that the brute would refuse to let her leave his remote castle until she has proven her identity. Or that she would find herself powerfully attracted to this passionately virile man whose gruff demeanor belies a proud and sensual nature. The further Greer falls under his spell, the more determined she becomes to unravel the secrets of her Welsh heritage and the mystery surrounding the dark prince who dares her to become his wife and princess.

I totally agree with the negative reviews about this story's heroine. It could have been a good book if not for her. Greer was the most exasperating, immature, nincompoop , stupid girl i ever read about. She made me want to throttled her and slap her almost on every page. This violent tendencies were caused by her constant wining. One moment she was planning her life with the prince and the next she tells him (after he proposes marriage, after she knows she is completely ruined) that she had never thought of marrying him until now. UGGGGHHHHH, idiot. I could not stand the fact that she planned to stay with the Kendrick house, even though it just did not belong to her, or the fact that up until the end she kept on believing Percy's lies (even after she had slept with the prince). Really, Greer!!!!???? She had no redeeming qualities for which to like her. The girl was no better than Percy, whom also was never again present in the book. She never really had a Oh- I -was -so -naive -with -Mr Percy-moment!!!. I just felt the prince loved her because he was lonely and knew no better. I could'nt see how he could have fallen in love with so inappropriate a heroine. It is probably the worst heroine of any book I have ever read.Product details

The Perils of Pursuing a Prince Desperate Debutantes (Audible Audio Edition) Julia London Anne Flosnik Audible Studios Books Reviews
I enjoyed reading this book set in the Welsh countryside. The attraction between Greer and the Prince of Powys was sizzling from the beginning. There is a mysterious death to explain involving the ghost of Greets mother .This keeps the relationship on Rocky ground until true love prevails in the end.
This is my favorite of the Debutante series. Having a colorblind male lead is an interesting choice and although the main female lead annoyed me I did enjoy the overall story.
I don't know what it was about this story that made me not love it. It was a good plot, good characters...I just can't put my finger on it. I should have liked it, but I didn't really. Perhaps the romance went too slowly. Actually the whole story went a bit slow. I felt like I was skipping over pages too much. Greer was a tad naive, yes. Though Rhoderick was not always that nice. He was too blunt at times. But other than these, I would have rated it a 4. But I just couldn't...get into it. The interest I had when I read Ava's story wasn't there. If you like slow romances, then this could be the book for you.
I love this type of book Julia London you can all most see the the story people ect come to life 2nd in series all ready ordered # 3
When I first started this book the 2nd book of the Debutante series I thought it was a flop!!! But than I keep reading out of my loyalty to Julia London and all of the other great books she has written. I being to realize that these characters such as Greer was fustrating me so much that I could have gone in the book and slapped her silly and say to her wake up you stupid fool!!! Thats when I realized I was reading a story and not really their! When a author can evoke this kind of emotion from the reader they have done their job very well!! The story was a bit sad but the romance was very Hot indeed and very sensual Whoa!!! and of course it has the Happy Ending we all want. This is another must read!!! Bravo Ms London I am on to the 3rd book in the series
What happened to Mr. Percy? How stupid and naive can one woman be? Loved the Hero, loved the setting..the heroine/Greer not so much...
SPOILER
Just shaking my head that the vile Mr. Percy just disappears and does not get his unhappily ever after.
The Perils of Pursuing a Prince is the second book in the Desperate Debutantes Trilogy and a fun, romantic, sexy tale. It was my first taste of Julia London's writing as well as my first listen of Anne Flosnik's narrating, and I enjoyed both very much.
My Quickie Review...
Like several others whose reviews I read, it took me awhile to warm up to Greer and Rhodrick, but the story itself was intriguing and is what kept me reading. Eventually, though, we learn that all the things that make them hard to connect with are, once understood, the same things that make them endearing people. I really did come to adore them, their complicated, emotional story, and their happily ever after!
